姆
ㄇㄨˇ · mǔ
noun — a nurse, governess; (阿姆) auntie
字源 FORM — what the parts do
A woman (女) beside 母 — a woman who mothers other people's children, a nurse or governess. The right side carries two tellings: 母 mǔ, the mother with her breasts marked, lending sound and sense at once; or 每 měi, 母 with a sprig on top, as the bare phonetic (the 每/悔/海/敏 series). The two dots are a nursing mother's breasts. In Taiwan speech it warms into 阿姆, auntie: 保姆、奶姆.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
一個女子(女)抱著別人的孩子,像母(母)一樣餵著哄著。
A woman (女) holds someone else's child, feeding and soothing it as a mother (母) would.
