A hand (扌) and 高 gāo for the sound, its tone dipping to gǎo: a catch-all verb for doing. Whatever the hands take up — fix it (搞定), do it well (搞好), play the fool (搞笑). A late, colloquial graph. It rides the 高 series: 稿、膏.
