昌
昌 = 日 + 曰
ㄔㄤ · chāng
adj — flourishing, prosperous, thriving
字源 FORM — what the parts do
曰義曰 — words spoken; or read as a second 日, doubling the light
The old graph carries two tellings. 說文 reads sun (日) over speech (曰): fine, sunlit words — good fortune spoken. The other reads two suns stacked, light upon light. Either way the sense is the same: bright, flourishing, thriving — 昌盛, 繁昌, the brightness of a thing at its height.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
一個日(日)壓著一個日(曰),光上加光,亮得發旺——昌。
One sun (日) set over another (曰), light upon light, bright to thriving — 昌.
