濁
濁 = 氵 + 蜀
ㄓㄨㄛˊ · zhuó
adj — muddy, turbid, foul
字源 FORM — what the parts do
氵義water
蜀聲shǔ — gives the sounda coiled silkworm, eye over a curled body — read here as zhuó
{sh,zh}ITshǔ → zhuó — initial and tone both shift
Water (氵) with 蜀 shǔ, a coiled silkworm. Silt clouds the water until you can't see through it — turbid, muddy (混濁, 渾濁). The foulness carries over to anything corrupt: a dirty world (濁世), a muddy voice (濁音). The sound slid from shǔ to zhuó. The same 蜀 sits in 獨, there with the dog 犭.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
泥沙攪進水(氵)裡,整盆水(蜀)混得看不見底。
Silt churns into the water (氵) until the whole basin (蜀) clouds and you can't see the bottom.
