脈 = 𠂢
ㄇㄞˋ · mài
noun — blood vessel; pulse; vein-like channel

字源 FORM — what the parts do

flesh, the body (月 in the modern glyph)
𠂢a branching of streams — the forking picture; you cannot see it whole in the modern right side
The branching channels of the body (血理分行體者) — the blood vessels. 𠂢 is a forking of streams, the same picture that runs through 派. The old graph carries two tellings: 說文's 從𠂢從血, the forking laid into the body's blood; or 𠂢 read as the phonetic, the pài-series donor worn to mài. Either way the forking stays. From the vessels: the pulse 脈搏, then any threading line — 山脈、命脈.

故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by

一條主管分出無數細支,像河汊一樣鋪滿全身,血在裡頭一下一下地跳。
One trunk forks into countless threads (𠂢) across the flesh (肉), blood pulsing beat by beat.
