The old graph carries two tellings: a clam-shell hoe, the field-tool that marked the planting season; or a hand gripping a cliff-edge, the body of 振 before it grew a hand. Either way the sense ran to the season's turning, then to time and the hours: 時辰、誕辰. It heads its own series: its sound runs on in 晨、震、振, its frame in 辱.
